This is a 3 page series I inked over John Romita Jr. when I was asked to help out on the ETERNALS series. Ill be very honest in stating that I dont think I did a very good job. The style of inking that Jr's work calls for doesnt come naturally to me. I can do it, it usually just takes me some time to get in the groove. On top of that, I was asked to try and keep things in line with what Danny Miki, the regular inker, was doing. Left to my own devices Id have gone much thicker and chunkier in many areas. Anyway, its still Jr. underneath it all. Hes a hard guy to ruin.

Great inks on one of my all time favorite artists! And I agree that you did a great job blending your style to flow with what Danny Miki was doing on the series. (Which was a beautiful, though unexpected, mixture of penciler and inker.)

I'm just now starting to practice inking artists other than myself but wouldn't even TRY Romita Jr. at this point. I don't think I could surmount what Gary martin called the "Penciler Intimidation Factor."

And, as I always say when looking at your inks, they look so much better here without the colors on them.

Thank you! One of these days Ill ink something of John's that Im relatively happy with. Im always stopping and starting with him though so I never can quite catch that grove. By the time I get a handle on it, Im done. And yes, BIG time intimidation facor. :)

I really dug the inks you did on that THOR piece. While you didn't obscure the pencils at all, it still had a very personal touch to it.

Thanks again. I think I spend a lot of my time trying to filter out so much of the stuff that Im known for doing. Since this style of inking isnt natural to me I keep trying to push the limits and get away from my norm. Not sure if its a lesson in futility or a growing experience. :)

Total growing experience. When i first heard that Danny Miki would be inking John Romita Jr. I was surprised and couldn't imagine how it would work, but I really loved the final blending of styles.

Similarly, your inks on that Thor piece never took anything away from what makes a John Romita Jr. drawing so awesome while putting you unique signature on it. I think that's one of the mose interesting things (for me, anyway) about Romita Jr.'s pencils: The unique colaborations with inkers it inspires. Some pencilers are so tight that it leaves little room for inkers to do much more than actually trace, but Romita Jr. is just so wonderfully elemental in his pencils... loose but powerfully defined... Like a tornado of awesomeness. Anyway, I'm rambling. Great job, as always.

JRJR seems like a deceptively tough guy to ink. Great work. Loved the series. =)

I'd like to see what you would do if they didn't tell you "do your best impressions of Danny Miki inking" Great job none the less

I don't remember where I heard John saying that his style depended of the deadline.
